Celebrate the Release of 'Wicked' With These Magical Pink and Green Recipes

Nearly 30 years after the novel was first published, and more than 20 years since it was first performed on Broadway, Wicked is finally making its way to the big screen. The show, which was once described by The Telegraph as a “devilishly clever spin on The Wizard of Oz,” sees Elphaba (aka the Wicked Witch of the West) and Galinda/Glinda (the Good Witch) head to school together, and the on-screen telling is almost guaranteed to be a smash hit. Early reviews of the movie—which stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo—have called it a “masterpiece” and “well worth the 20-year wait.”

If you can’t contain your excitement for the movie, one of the best ways to celebrate is with a party, of course, and plenty of food. Pink goes good with green, so we’ve compiled some of the best themed recipes for your Oz-worthy watch party below.

When is ‘Wicked’ coming out in theaters?

Wicked has been split into two films, and the first part is set to be released in theaters on November 22. The second part will be released just under a year later, on November 21, 2025. Alongside Grande (who plays Glinda) and Erivo (who plays Elphaba), Jonathan Bailey stars as Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Ethan Slater as Boq.

Speaking about the film earlier this year, director Jon M. Chu said: “I want people to see Wicked and experience it in a way they’ve never experienced before. I want them to feel what I felt going into that movie theatre for the first time. I want to make them laugh, to make them sing, to make them feel that after they’ve watched it, they’ve been changed for good.”

In honor of the film, themed release parties are already taking place all over the US and the UK (even the Kardashian-Jenners have gotten involved). Whether you’re planning your own Ozdust Ball or you’re just hanging out listening to the soundtrack with friends, we’ve got some delicious dip, dessert, and main recipe inspiration for you below. Thank goodness.
