How to Make a Veggie Board
Full steps are below in the printable recipe card. This is a quick walk through on how to make your spring veggie board.
- Start by adding celery and the bowls to your board.
- Add dips of choice to your bowls.
- Slice carrots and place around two bowls to create flowers.
- Next prep strawberries to do the same. I sliced the berries in half so they sat flat.
- Add dried cranberries down the center of the celery.
- Snap peas are used to mimic grass. Just place at the bottom of the board.
- I did add some broccoli for a change in texture.
- Next add bowls of Chex mix and covered raisins. Then I used butterfly shaped crackers outside for snacking on.
Tips for Success
Board Size
Make sure you are going to use a board that works well with the size of flowers you are wanting to make. Kind of brainstorm before you start to ensure you will have enough room.
If you don’t have a wooden board you can always use a cookie sheet.
Prepping Veggies
Use a sharp knife for clean precise cuts, peelers to remove skin from full size carrots if you don’t use baby carrots, etc. You can also cut a corner and shop for pre-packed veggies at the store so you don’t have to prep veggies and fruit.
Variations to Recipe
Veggies and Fruit Used
The possibilities are endless. You can use kiwi to slice and shape for flowers, grapes to place in the center of the bowl instead of a dip. Make flower leaves out of raspberries or blackberries. Use a bell pepper that is yellow, red or orange and replace the carrot sticks. Try out different ways to take your favorite veggies and fruit and add them to the board.
Snack Bowls
So I added dips and such to snack bowls but you can always replace with a nut mix, add in more fruit or veggies like grapes or cherry tomatoes.
Dips
Go for any dips you want. Hummus, cream cheese fruit dip, chocolate hummus, etc. Even this buffalo cauliflower dip would be great for dipping your vegetables in. Buy or make homemade dips for your serving bowls.
